A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes, but a person of understanding delights in Wisdom.
PROVERBS 10:23
HOW TO RECEIVE WISDOM
1. ASK GOD – SPIRITUAL HEALTH
If any of you lacks Wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
JAMES 1:5
Wisdom starts with a request.
It doesn’t begin with intellect…
It begins with humility.
Not from books…
Not from culture…
Not from feelings…
But from God.
If you don’t ask…
You won’t receive.
ASk GOD sincerely.
2. LISTEN TO ADVICE – EMOTIONAL HEALTH
Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.
PROVERBS 19:20
You won’t grow if you reject correction.
Pride resists feedback.
Wisdom welcomes it.
Advice may sting.
Instruction may humble you.
But wisdom will come if you receive it.
Stop defending yourself.
Stop making excuses.
Stop blaming others.
Listen.
Accept.
Grow.
3. OBEY GOD’S WORD – SPIRITUAL + MENTAL HEALTH
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
MATTHEW 7:24
Hearing truth is not enough.
Reading your Bible is not enough.
Listening to sermons is not enough.
You must do what you’ve heard.
Wisdom is not knowledge…
It is applied truth.
You build your life on rock by acting on God’s Word.
If you only hear and don’t do…
You’re building on sand.
4. DELIGHT IN SCRIPTURE – MENTAL HEALTH
But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.
PSALM 1:2
Do you enjoy the Word of God?
Do you meditate on it?
Or do you rush through it?
Wisdom comes to those who sit with the Word.
Not scroll past it.
Not skim it.
Day and night.
Think on it.
Pray it.
Apply it.
Meditate on it.
5. CHOOSE THE RIGHT COMPANY – SOCIAL HEALTH
Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.
PROVERBS 13:20
Who are your friends?
Who do you admire?
Who do you listen to?
You become like who you walk with.
Foolish company = foolish choices.
Wise company = wise decisions.
If you want to be wise…
Walk with the wise.
Don’t be casual about your circle.
Your life depends on it.
6. STUDY SCRIPTURE – SPIRITUAL + INTELLECTUAL HEALTH
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 TIMOTHY 3:16-17
Scripture is not optional.
It is essential.
It teaches…
It corrects…
It trains…
If you neglect the Bible, you are unarmed.
If you study the Bible, you are equipped.
You cannot have wisdom without the Word.
7. EMBRACE HUMILITY – EMOTIONAL + SPIRITUAL HEALTH
When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
PROVERBS 11:2
Wisdom and pride cannot co-exist.
You must choose.
Pride blinds.
Humility sees.
Pride defends.
Humility receives.
Pride controls.
Humility surrenders.
Be teachable.
Be lowly.
Be willing to change.
8. PURSUE WISDOM – MENTAL + SPIRITUAL HEALTH
Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.
PROVERBS 4:5-7
Don’t wait for wisdom to fall on you.
Get it.
Search for it.
Pay attention.
Study God’s ways.
Practice His commands.
Don’t let distraction pull you away.
Don’t let the world tell you what’s wise.
Keep your eyes on the Word.
Live it.
Love truth.
9. WISDOM IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
God offers it…
But you must receive it.
- Ask
- Listen
- Obey
- Delight
- Walk with the wise
- Study scripture
- Stay humble
- Pursue it
It’s not passive.
It’s daily.
It’s a way of life.
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding.
