SPIRITUAL — WISDOM

WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU ASKED GOD FOR WISDOM?

Wisdom is a gift from God.

It comes through time…

Through understanding…

Through knowledge…

But not only that.

Heavenly wisdom is different.

It is applying God’s will to our world.

It is wisdom that honours him.

It is not wisdom to get rich quick.

It is not clever strategy.

It is knowing what is right…

And doing it.

SPIRITUAL — WHAT IS GODLY WISDOM?

The world calls intellect and knowledge “wisdom.”

God defines wisdom differently.

Godly wisdom is seeing from God’s point of view…

and acting according to his Word.

“The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.”

JAMES 3:17

MENTAL HEALTH — HOW TO DISCERN HEAVENLY WISDOM

Some wisdom is not from God.

James 3:15 warns of:

• Earthly wisdom
• Intellectual wisdom
• Demonic wisdom

Do not seek wisdom to:

• Get personal gain
• Take revenge
• Satisfy greed

Godly wisdom will always align with:

• Purity
• Peace
• Sincerity
• Obedience

If it leads you to dishonour God or ignore Scripture…

It is not wisdom from heaven.

EMOTIONAL AND MENTAL HEALTH — WHAT DOES GODLY WISDOM LOOK LIKE?

“A fool finds pleasure in wicked schemes,

but a person of understanding delights in wisdom.”

PROVERBS 10:23

True wisdom is peaceable…

Not proud.

True wisdom produces good fruit…

Not selfish ambition.

True wisdom listens…

It does not rush to speak.

SPIRITUAL — HOW TO ACQUIRE GODLY WISDOM

Godly wisdom doesn’t come from one sermon or one book.

It’s a process…

And a result.

Here is how Scripture tells us to seek it:

1. PRAY FOR IT

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God…”

JAMES 1:5

2. ASSOCIATE WITH THE WISE

“Walk with the wise… and you grow wise.
Spend time with fools… and you suffer harm.”

PROVERBS 13:20

3. STUDY SCRIPTURE

GOD’S WORD is the foundation.

Meditate on it.

Apply it.

Let it shape your thinking.

4. SEEK GODLY COUNSEL

Don’t isolate.

GOD puts wise people around us for a reason.

Listen.

Test all things by Scripture.

5. OBSERVE HOW GOD WORKS

See the fruit of obedience in others.

Learn from consequences.

Trace the outcomes of following God’s ways…

MENTAL HEALTH — THE RIGHT USE OF KNOWLEDGE

Wisdom is not only knowing the truth…

It is applying it.

“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”

JAMES 4:17

It is not wise to hear and ignore.

It is wise to hear and obey.

Wisdom is not for show.

It is for doing.

God’s wisdom is always available…

But you must ask for it.

You must want it.

Not to boost your image…

Or your bank account…

But to live a life that honours him.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.”

PROVERBS 9:10

DEAR LORD OUR FATHER GRANT US THE WISDOM TO OBEY YOU. GIVE US THE WISDOM TO FOLLOW YOUR COMMANDS. HELP US TO SEE THE FRUITS OF OUR ENDEAVOURS AND TO USE HEAVENLY WISDOM FOR YOUR GLORY. IN JESUS PRECIOUS NAME WE PRAY. AMEN
