The eternal question.
What is the point of life?
What is the point of my life?
Do you agonise over this?
Ever think about it?
Too busy living to think about it?
Too busy moaning to ponder it?
Do you know?
Do you even care?
What is Satan’s Plan?
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
JOHN 10:10 Part 1
What does this mean?
This is a stark warning.
The thief is Satan.
Satan wants to destroy your life.
If you let Satan in…
Destruction will follow.
Destruction of the Spirit.
Those who allow Satan control of their life develop one, two or all three of the following:
Greed.
Pride.
Lust.
How can this take hold?
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
1 TIMOTHY 6:10
Satan will offer wealth.
Great wealth.
Which will lead to greed… the constant quest for more and more.
Pride… defining ones self through one’s wealth.
Considering that you are better than others.
Lust… an avaricious desire for the lusts of the flesh.
Assess your life.
Do you constantly want more?
A bigger house.
A better car.
More jewels.
More possessions.
Elon Musk, the richest man in the world lives in a 400 square foot tiny home.
No matter how rich you are, you can only sit in one chair at a time.
Eat at one table.
Sleep in one bed.
Greed destroys peace.
Pride destroys joy.
Lust destroys love.
God’s Plan
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
JOHN 10:10 Part 2
What does this mean?
Jesus offers Salvation.
Eternal life.
Plus an abundant life on earth.
Yes God can bless us with abundance if we follow his path for us.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
I JEREMIAH 29:11
If you give your life to God, he will unfold a life of wonder and awe in his magnificence.
God will bless you.
But… more importantly…
God offers:
Love
Joy
Peace
The Fruit of the Spirit:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
GALLATIANS 5:22-26
Once we give our life to God, the desires of the flesh have no pull upon us.
We are no longer envious.
We wish others well.
We are no longer greedy.
We thank the Lord for our daily bread and pray only that our daily needs are taken care of.
We are no longer proud.
We are humbled before God and his magnificence.
We are no longer lustful.
We run from sin and the desires of the flesh.
Are you there yet?
If not pray that the Holy Spirit will guide you.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
PROVERBS 3:5-6
Let us pray:
OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN, GRANT US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD AND LEAD US IN YOUR WILL. HELP US OH LORD TO DEFEAT THE WILES OF THE FLESH AND FOLLOW YOUR GUIDANCE IN ALL THINGS. IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME WE PRAY. AMEN
