We fear God and it leads to:
Knowledge.
Wisdom.
Understanding.
What else?
Loyalty
Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.
PSALM 86:11
Leads to a commitment that God takes priority over other allegiances.
Put God first in all things.
In everything we do… follow the path God has planned for us.
Be true to God’s word.
Obedience
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
DEUTERONOMY 10:12
God requires us to fear him.
Then we will respect him.
God requires us to obey him.
Then we will respect his word.
God requires us to love him.
Then we will follow him with all our heart, soul and might.
If you love me, keep my commands.
JOHN 14:15
If we love God, we choose to obey him.
We want to obey him.
We long to please him.
Humility
Leads to a proper perspective of ourselves in relation to God.
Job got taught this lesson:
2 “Who is this that obscures my plans
with words without knowledge?
3 Brace yourself like a man;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.
4 “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
Tell me, if you understand.
5 Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!
Who stretched a measuring line across it?
6 On what were its footings set,
or who laid its cornerstone—
7 while the morning stars sang together
and all the angels shouted for joy?
JOB 38:2-7
We cannot come close to God’s magnificence and supernatural power… so it is not for us to question him,
God is God.
Eternal beliefs
Gives us protection from the fear of death and evil.
And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile.
1 PETER 1:17
If we fear the Lord and live according to his will, we need not fear death but instead look forward to eternity in his presence.
God knows our hearts.
God is with us and our fear of him is of reverence at his magnificence.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?
PSALM 118:6
Focusing on eternity, and God’s amazing strength, protects us from fear of evil and strife in this world.
LET US PRAY:
FATHER GOD, WE THANK YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE. WE THANK YOU FOR PLANTING IN OUR HEARTS FEAR OF YOUR MAGNIFICENCE AND OMNIPOTENT POWER. WE PRAY THAT YOU WATCH OVER US AND GUIDE US IN YOUR PATH. IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME WE PRAY. AMEN.
