How to Evangelise

By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.

JOHN 15:8

Live your faith.

Don’t preach to others.

Yes introduce them to the Gospel… but…

How do you show up?

Would others look at your life and think..

I want that life?

That life is good…

Or… are you a lazy Christian?

It’s a bit like booking a life coach.

Who would you choose?

A fit, healthy successful individual who looks smart, drives a clean car and shows up on time having booked an excellent venue with great service?

Or a dishevelled, out of condition, scruffy individual in sweats, with a dirty car and an untidy office?

Live your faith

Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

MATTHEW 5:15-16

How do you live your life?

Are you following the spirit and defeating the flesh?

It all boils down to discipline.

What is your prayer routine?

What is your Bible reading routine?

What is your church routine?

What do you do for the poor?

How do monks live?

They devout their lives to the Spirit.

But…

They are clean and hard working.

They look after the flesh, they do not indulge it but neither do they neglect it.

How do you show up in your daily life?

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. He who plants and he who waters are one, and each will receive his wages according to his labor. For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.

1 CORINTHIANS 9:19-23

God gave us a body…

God gave us a planet.

He made us caretakers of this earth.

He produced his best… in us and told us to be fruitful.

Are you looking after God’s creation?

Are you looking after yourself?

Do you take care of your body?

Eat healthily?

Exercise regularly?

Educate yourself?

Do you take care of your environment?

Are you grateful to God for everything he has blessed you with?

Do you look after your home?

Your car?

Your possessions?

Or is everything just too much for you to cope with and you neglect yourself and your home and use the excuse that being a Christian… these things don’t matter.

If they don’t matter why did God waste his time giving them to you?

Time to pray in the Spirit.

Time to truly thank God and ask for his support to show our wonder and gratitude to him for everything he has given us and look after it as he instructed us to.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

2 TIMOTHY 2:15

Remember… everything God has given he can also take away.

God is sovereign.

Back to the first question…

Would other people look at your life and think…

being a Christian is a great way to live… I want that life?

Lead by example.

As Jesus did.

Let us pray:

FATHER GOD WE THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE BLESSED US WITH AND ASK THAT YOU SHOW US HOW TO BE GRATEFUL ADN GOOD CARETAKERS OF OURSELVES AND THIS BEAUTIFUL EARTH. HELP US TO TRULY VALUE YOUR CREATION IN EVERYTHING WE THINK, SAY AND DO. IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME WE PRAY. AMEN
